COVID-19: A message from trivago Magazine to you
Dear reader,
It is a disorienting experience to browse through stories about dreamy getaways while the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic ripples across the world. At trivago, we feel the same way.
As a team comprised of 90 different nationalities; our worries about the virus stretch beyond the strain of daily business and into our family homes around the world.
Just like you, our long-awaited family vacations, best friends’ weddings, romantic getaways, solo jaunts, business trips and every kind of travel in between have been put on hold. We are hunkering down at home, doing our part to reduce the transmission of the virus and ensure that our local healthcare systems can cope. It’s essential that everyone avoid any non-essential travel until the outbreak is under control.
Instead of checking in at hotels, we are focused on a different kind of check in. Checking in on our families, friends, colleagues, and loved ones.
However, even in times of tremendous turmoil and uncertainty, we at trivago strive to maintain an optimistic mindset and a commitment to exploring, even if that means for a little while we only explore those “maybe one day…” destinations through images online or plan far-future vacations from the safety of our screens at home.
In that spirit, trivago Magazine will continue to publish stories over the next few months. (Because who doesn’t need a 3pm daydream of an infinity pool in times like these?) While this content cannot serve as pack-your-bags-and-go inspiration, perhaps it can allow you to wander in your minds while we patiently wait for our global community to heal.
From all of us at trivago: stay safe and stay healthy.
