8 Spacious Resorts and Hotels Near Old Town Kissimmee

With so many activities in and near Old Town Kissimmee, a quiet, comfortable, and spacious place to stay is vital. These accommodations fit the bill.

There’s no way around it: Kissimmee is a tourist town. The former cow town (its nickname is “Kowtown” due to its deep roots in the early- to mid-20th century cattle industry) has, completely transformed in the years since the 1971 opening of nearby Walt Disney World. With the Happiest Place on Earth just a few minutes away, scores of hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops have blossomed along the main corridors of Kissimmee.

However, the heartbeat of Kissimmee’s past can still be heard; whether by taking in an event at the nearby Silver Spurs Rodeo, strolling through the Kissimmee Historic District, or having fun at Old Town Kissimmee. Designed to emulate the architecture and ambiance of an “Old Florida” town, Old Town Kissimmee is very much a modern recreation, with a focus on theme-park rides and games, food, and shopping.

Between the fun of Old Town, the allure of the nearby theme parks, and the crush of fellow visitors packing the restaurants, hotels, and shops along main drags like the Irlo Bronson Highway, it’s imperative that you have a comfortable, relaxing place to call home while you’re visiting Kissimmee and Central Florida. That’s why we’ve rounded up some of the best places for you and your group to stay while in the area.

Settle In and Stay a While

If you’re traveling with a group and staying in the area for more than a couple of nights, the residential-style townhouses at the Regal Oaks Resort may be a great fit. Instead of jostling for space in a standard hotel room or suite (or, worse yet, battling over the single bathroom), you’ll be able to settle into one of the dozens of 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom accommodations here.

All the spaces boast modern, tasteful decor, with living rooms, multiple full bathrooms, flat-screen TVs with Blu-ray players, a full kitchen, washer/dryer setups, and a private hot tub. The resort itself is designed like a residential community – complete with street names and front-door parking – with a massive outdoor pool (complete with water slides and plenty of sundeck space), tennis courts, and a comfortable clubhouse.

Stay Here All Season

One of the best-known ambassadors for the Florida lifestyle is Jimmy Buffett, and while “wasting away” may not be on everyone’s to-do list, the louche lure of Margaritaville is a strong one. The Margaritaville Resort Orlando manages to capture that appeal on a grand scale; sure, there are “frozen concoction makers” to be found here, but this massive resort has something for everyone.

Whether you’re bunking in one of the 184 rooms in the five-story hotel or you’ve set up camp in one of the cozy cottages, you’re bound to be lulled into vacation mode by the pastels-and-parrots decor and wide range of activities on site here. Multiple outdoor pools, restaurants, bars (natch), and even the on-site convenience/grocery store seem to be perfectly calibrated to encourage leisurely vibes.

Large Rooms Feel Like Home Away from Home

The Berkeley Orlando Hotel bills itself as a hotel, but its DNA is that of a resort. The smallest rooms here are spacious, apartment-style 2-bedroom suites, but large groups will want to book one of the 2100 square-foot 4-bedroom suites that feels more like a home away from home.

Plenty of Key West Vibes in Kissimmee

Centrally located among the shops and restaurants of Old Town Kissimmee, Barefoot Suites offers spacious rooms that feel like cozy apartments. With comfortable sitting areas, kitchens, balconies, and clean, contemporary furnishings, these 1- and 2-bedroom suites are great for both short- and longer-term stays.

The 2-bedroom suites are more than 1000 square feet, giving guests plenty of room to stretch out (and two bathrooms to make those theme-park mornings go more smoothly); however, even the 1-bedroom accommodations are plenty big, with nearly 700 square feet of space, a queen bed and a double sofa bed. The grounds evoke a laid-back, Key West vibe, with tropical landscaping and pastel paint schemes; but there’s still plenty to do on-site, with two swimming pools, a playground, basketball and volleyball courts, and a barbeque/picnic area.
